I am a Reader (Associate Professor) of Government and Public Policy at the University of Strathclyde. I received my PhD in Political Science at Emory University. I am awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2022-2023) for my project “Consolidation of Power in Dictatorship” which explores how and when autocratic leaders promote the consolidation of power by purging rival elites from the regime.
I will start the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science at Indiana University Bloomington on August 1st, 2023.
My research and teaching combine interests in international relations, comparative politics, and political methodology, along with subfield specialities in political violence (purges, coups and civil war), authoritarian politics, the link between domestic politics and foreign policy, leadership survival, conflict resolution, and civil-military relation.
